To address the pressing issue of unemployment, he said he would implement a digital system aimed at offering practical solutions.

Geoffrey Ruku, the Cabinet Secretary nominee for Public Service and Human Capital Development, has pledged to serve the nation impartially and with dedication if confirmed for the role.

Appearing before the National Assembly Committee on Appointments, led by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula on Monday, Ruku emphasized his commitment to reforming the Public Service sector, particularly in addressing employment matters.

He assured the committee that, under his leadership, public appointments would uphold the constitutional principle of inclusivity, ensuring that all regions and communities are fairly represented in line with the 2010 Constitution.

The legislator further pledged to promote a conducive environment for job creation and business development across the country.

"I will serve the Republic of Kenya without fear or favour. On matters of employment, the face of Kenya must be seen as per Article 232 of our Constitution. I will work to create an enabling environment for both employment and business," Ruku stated.

To address the pressing issue of unemployment, he said he would implement a digital system aimed at offering practical solutions.

Ruku outlined one of his key strategies to enhance efficiency in the public sector, which includes introducing a digital timesheet system for all public officers.

He explained that the proposed system will be integrated across all government institutions to monitor staff attendance and performance, while also improving internal communication.

"I intend to implement a system that connects all government institutions to enhance coordination and track how civil servants report to work. The timesheet will be a critical component going forward," he said.

President William Ruto nominated Ruku as the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Human Capital Development, and Special Programmes on March 26, 2025.

If approved, he will take over from Justin Muturi, who was removed from the post following a fallout with the President.

Ruku, 45, was elected to Parliament in the 2022 general election under the Democratic Party (DP) ticket, securing 17,069 votes and defeating three other contenders.

A close ally of President Ruto, the lawmaker first ventured into elective politics in 2013, contesting for the Mbeere North parliamentary seat but lost to Muriuki Njagagua.

He made a second attempt in 2017, vying for the Embu Senate seat on a Jubilee Party ticket, but was defeated by Njeru Ndigwa.
